Annual Founders Week Calls for Us to be Together in the Spirit

The Division of Mission and Identity (DMI) calls upon the campus community to come Together in the Spirit to celebrate Founders Week Monday, Feb. 1 through Friday, Feb. 5 with virtual and in-person, socially distanced events.

Founders Week 2021: Together in the SpiritEquity and opportunity begin at home. Founded to advocate and advance opportunity for immigrants, Duquesne’s annual Founders Week celebrates the University’s more than 140 years of standing up for the health and economic well-being of all people within our local and global communities.

“The last year has been challenging for so many of us. If it has shown us anything, it is that the darker days of our lives cannot be endured alone,” says Luci-Jo DiMaggio, director of mission animation in DMI. “This year, Founders Week calls us to be Together in the Spirit, to be present, to listen to one another and to open our hearts to the Holy Spirit so that we may be connected to the Divine presence each day.”

Events for the week will include an in-person Light in the Darkness Candlemas and Moveable Founders Week Feast, as well as virtual events such as the traditional Founders Week luncheon and Tuesday Vespers.

Registration for events is requested at duq.edu/FoundersWeek.
