New Nursing Partnerships Address Shortages, Offer Tuition Discounts

In response to the growing demand for health care leaders to fill the need for advanced practice nurses and executive-level nursing positions, the School of Nursing has forged educational partnerships with several nursing associations to offer mentoring and education resources to its members.

Members of new partner organizations—the Transcultural Nursing Society, Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated and the National Association of Hispanic Nurses—are eligible for a 30% tuition discount when they enroll in one of Duquesne’s online graduate nursing programs. Members are eligible for the tuition discount after one full year of membership.

“We want to deliver more options for professionals to expand their knowledge and skill sets in nursing practice and patient care,” Nursing Dean Dr. Mary Ellen Glasgow said. “As we face a growing and critical shortage of primary and acute care providers, these programs will educate nurses to fill these roles and meet the needs of health care head-on.”

The School of Nursing recognizes the need to make a meaningful impact on the world. As a result, the school nearly doubled the number of online graduate nursing programs in 2020, which now includes six M.S.N specializations, six post-master’s certificate programs and two D.N.P. tracks.

The School of Nursing programs are designed to prepare graduates to be health care leaders who will drive change, improve patient outcomes and provide holistic, culturally sensitive care.
