University employees are needed to volunteer at the 2021 Freshman Advisement Summer Transition (FAST) Lab. This year’s program will offer both in-person and virtual options.

Freshman Advisement and Summer Transition programVolunteers will help new students and their families navigate several areas such as:

  • financial aid
  • the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • student accounts/authorized payer
  • student work study positions
  • textbook lists.

Interested individuals can sign up for a volunteer training session online via MyLEAD that is scheduled for Monday, July 12, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

“The FAST program is just one way that we help incoming students and families prepare for their transition to college and begin their horizon-expanding education at Duquesne,” Mark Beck, assistant registrar, said. “The work we do together in the FAST Lab is essential in supporting these new members of our University community realize it’s time for bigger goals. We could not provide this excellent service to our new students and their families without the efforts of our volunteers.”
