Reminder: Register Now for Homecoming, Evening with the Stars

There is still time to register for Homecoming 2021, this weekend’s variety of events slated for Friday, Sept. 24, through Sunday, Sept. 26.

One of the weekend’s highlights, An Evening with the Stars, will include music, drama and discussion showcasing Pittsburgh’s many contributions to our nation’s cultural life. Scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, in the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse, the celebration will include special guests Norm Nixon, Debbie Allen, Constanza Romero Wilson and Stephen McKinley Henderson. Attendees are asked to register for the event.

Celebrations of the class of 2020, the classes of 1970 and 1971, the Golden Dukes, the Third Alternative and several Greek organizations also are scheduled.

This weekend’s other featured events include:

Sept. 24

  • Welcome Mass, noon, University Chapel
  • Diversity happy hour, 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Sept. 25

  • Campus tours starting at 9 a.m. (departing every 30 minutes from the Union)
  • KidsZone, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring games and activities for children under 12
  • AutumnFest, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring student organization booths selling crafts, games and food on Academic Walk
  • Crucifix Garden dedication, 11:30 a.m. to noon, when President Ken Gormley and the Rev. Bill Christy, C.S.Sp., will dedicate the new Crucifix Garden beautification and renovation project, located behind the Administration Building near Rockwell Hall and the Rangos School of Health Sciences.
  • Duquesne football vs. Virginia University of Lynchburg, 1 p.m., Rooney Field
  • Brews and bingo tent party, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., with al-fresco dining from various Pittsburgh food stations at the tent near Mellon Hall
  • An Evening with the Stars, 7 p.m., UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse

Sept. 26

  • Farewell Mass, 11 a.m., University Chapel
  • Ring Blessing, 12 p.m., Duquesne Ring Statue, next to the Administration Building
  • Class of 2020 graduation celebration and reception, 3 p.m., UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
