Debbie Allen, an Emmy Award-winning choreographer, actress, producer, writer and director, and Norm Nixon, former Los Angeles Laker and Duquesne basketball star, opened the event. The evening’s program included music, drama and discussions that showcased Pittsburgh’s many contributions to our nation’s cultural life.

Dramatic and musical performances paid tribute to Pittsburgh playwright August Wilson and featured his widow, Constanza Romero Wilson, and Stephen McKinley Henderson, award-winning Broadway and film actor.

The event reflected Duquesne’s commitment to provide programs that offer students new perspectives on the arts and their impact on society.
