Higher Ed Fall Lecture to Address Equity-Centered Leadership

Faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in a candid conversation about equity focus in higher education leadership and administration at the 2021 Higher Education Fall Lecture.

Gratuates celebrating at commencementHosted by the School of Education, the lecture will feature Dr. Wanda Heading-Grant, Carnegie Mellon University’s inaugural vice provost for diversity, equity and inclusion and chief diversity officer. She will present When Equity Minded Leadership is Challenged in Higher Education: A Black Woman’s Narrative.

Heading-Grant’s timely presentation supports and demonstrates Duquesne’s commitment to building a better Pittsburgh and conviction that equity and opportunity begin at home.

Through the lens of her social work background, Heading-Grant will share her own personal and professional experiences in becoming an equity-driven leader. She will discuss cases in which her decision-making and leadership skills were tested and provide insight and takeaways for professionals to use in their equity-driven work in higher education and related fields.

Participants can attend this free event either in-person or virtually Thursday, Nov. 4, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Union’s Africa Room. A Zoom link will be provided for those attending virtually.
