Join the Challenge for Duquesne’s Day of Giving: Feb. 16

The countdown has begun for the Duquesne Day of Giving, a one-day virtual fundraising event scheduled for Tuesday, Feb 16, during which faculty, staff, alumni and friends will be asked to show their support for Duquesne and its students by making an online donation and spreading the word about the day on social media.

Donors will have the option to make an unrestricted gift that will support the University’s areas of greatest need or designate their gift to a specific school, organization, program or sports team.

All donations will be made online via the Duquesne’s crowdfunding platform Spirit, which will allow for people to see donations being made in real time throughout the day.

“Days of giving have been incredibly successful across the country, and as both a graduate and employee, I know first-hand that Duquesne has passionate alumni, faculty, staff and students to make it possible for us to have a historic day of our own,” said David Jakielo, assistant director of annual giving. “Donations of any level, even $10, will make a difference. Having donors and others helping to spread the word about the Day of Giving on social media can make just as big of an impact.”

Donors have helped create incentives for the Duquesne community who donate on the Day of Giving by making challenges, which include:

  • $5,000 to the University school with the most donors on the Duquesne Day of Giving
  • $10,000 to the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business if 100 individuals designate their gift to the School of Business on the Day of Giving
  • Donations to the Gamma Phi fraternity’s 100th Anniversary Scholarship Fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000.

The process of donating is quick and easy. Donors can visit www.duq.edu/dayofgiving on Feb. 16 and make a gift with a credit card using a secure online form.
