Student Ensemble Earns Top Prize

A student ensemble coached by Stephen Pollock, adjunct professor of saxophone, won one of the top prizes at the prestigious Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition.

The Duquesne University Quadratomic Saxophone Quartet brought home this year’s Coleman-Saunderson Prize for Woodwinds or Brass, one of only three prizes awarded at the national competition, which took place April 24 at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, Ca.

Held annually for the past 64 years, the Coleman Competition draws young chamber musicians from the best music schools, providing them an opportunity to perform before a panel of internationally renowned judges. To learn more, visit the Coleman Competition’s Web site.
