Nursing Faculty Member Garners Cameos of Caring Award

Rosanna Henry, a member of the School of Nursing faculty, has been recognized with a 2010 Cameos of Caring Nurse Educator Award.

Instituted by the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing in 1999 to recognize outstanding bedside nurses, the annual Cameos of Caring awards have expanded to include categories for nurse educators as well as for both clinical and administrative advanced practice nurses.

Rosanna Henry, a School of Nursing instructor and director of the Fritzky Nursing Lab, is a recipient of the 2010 Cameos of Caring Nurse Educator Award.

Henry is the director of the Fritzky Nursing Laboratory and teaches undergraduate classes in nursing technologies, health assessment and preparing for the national certification exam. An expert in two critical areas—skills acquisition and laboratory simulation—she is responsible for demonstrating to students and faculty how they can get the most from the Fritzky Lab’s computer-controlled medical mannequins and other learning technologies.

Henry became a nurse educator in order to share her love of nursing with students and has earned a reputation as a patient, skillful teacher, mentor and role model. She is an advocate for healthy living and a volunteer for Operation Churchbeat, a project to impart the lifesaving skill of CPR to church members in the Hill District neighborhood.

Along with the other Cameos for Caring award recipients, Henry will be recognized at a dinner this Saturday, Nov. 6, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. More than 1,200 guests are expected to attend.
