Make Thanksgiving a Festive Occasion for Families in Need

During this season of giving, the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) is sponsoring their 6th annual Turkey Drive to help local, disadvantaged families enjoy a dinner on Thanksgiving Day.

Members of the Duquesne University community can sponsor a family for just $25, but donations of any size, anywhere from $5 to $100 are greatly appreciated.

The goal of this year’s drive is to provide 300 turkeys to families in need throughout the Pittsburgh area. Last year, the OMA Turkey Drive raised enough funds to provide turkeys to more than 200 families in the Hill District, Manchester, Hazelwood and East Liberty communities.

There are numerous ways to make a donation:

  • Donate with cash or check, made payable to the Office of Multicultural Affairs, via mail or in person in Room 105 of the Union
  • Department budget transfer can be made to the Turkey Drive fund
  • Giant Eagle gift cards are also accepted.

The deadline to contribute to the OMA Turkey Drive is Friday, Nov. 18.  For more information, call the OMA at 412.396.1117.
