“It is an honor to have the founding donor of one of the most successful schools in Duquesne’s history return to campus,” said Dr. Gregory Frazer, dean of the Rangos School. “The success of our graduates and the difference they make in the world are thanks to his commitment and generosity to Duquesne.”

Recognizing a need for more professionals in health sciences, Duquesne opened the John G. Rangos Sr. School of Health Sciences in 1991. The University was able to open its first new school in half a century because of a gift by Rangos, about half the necessary capital to convert and equip Father Hehir’s old gymnasium on the corner of Locust Street and McAnulty Drive.

Rangos serves as the chairman of the John G. Rangos Sr. Charitable Foundation; is the founder of both the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation and International Orthodox Christian Charities; is the former chairman of the Chambers Development Co.; and is the former vice chairman of USA Waste Services.

The ceremony will last approximately 90 minutes and will be followed by a reception in the Duquesne Union Ballroom.
