School of Leadership to Celebrate August Commencement

Retired Army Col. Shand Stringham, adjunct instructor in the School of Leadership and Professional Advancement (SLPA), will address more than 100 graduating students at the school’s 2014 August commencement.

A baccalaureate Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 11:30 a.m. in the University Chapel. The commencement ceremony will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Union ballroom and Dean Dorothy Bassett will confer the degrees.

SLPA friends, faculty, students and alumni are invited to gather on Friday, Aug. 8, at 5:30 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble Café for a get-together and book signing by Stringham. The event, which is free and open to the public, will include a networking reception.

Stringham spent the last five of his 26 years with the Army teaching classes on national security and strategy at the United States Army War College. He has authored three books—Strategic Leadership and Strategic Management, Gettysburg Revisited and History Quest—and currently is a management consultant and instructor.
