Princeton Review Calls Duquesne a Top Graduate Business School

The Donahue Graduate School of Business was selected by The Princeton Review as among The Best 296 Business Schools in the 2015 book of how students rate their schools.

The ranking called the school “unique because of its emphasis on sustainability and business ethics” and requires all students to take an applied business ethics course.

“Duquesne’s award-winning, full-time, one-year MBA in sustainability is its star program, drawing students who believe sustainability will soon be ‘a global business imperative,’” the listing said, though it called Duquesne’s part-time and full-time evening MBA programs “also strong.”

The school offers a number of electives and concentrations as well as joint MBA/JD and MBA/MS Information Systems Management, MS in Accountancy and MBA/MS in Accountancy degrees.

Students commented that teamwork is integrated into academic life, allowing them to work with others on “rewarding projects ‘that collaborate across all classes.’” Accessible and enthusiastic professors “show a genuine interest in the success of their students,” and Duquesne’s “excellent reputation” attracts a wide range of companies to its campus including Allegheny Technologies, Alcoa, Bank of New York Mellon, Deloitte, PNC Bank, PricewaterhouseCoopers, T. Rowe Price, U.S. Steel and Westinghouse.

“This recognition from Princeton Review is another affirmation of the innovative work we have done in our graduate programs, particularly with our emphasis on sustainability and ethics,” said Dr. Dean McFarlin, business school dean. “Moreover, it underscores the passion and commitment of our outstanding faculty who bring these programs to life.”

About 75 percent of the school’s domestic and international students are employed at graduation. Students, on average, have worked for three years before returning to school.

The listings, based upon an 80-question survey answered by the 21,600 students attending the 296 business schools in 2011-2014, also considered Duquesne’s location near downtown businesses convenient and near the cultural district as a plus, even for commuter students.
