School of Nursing White Coat Ceremony Draws Nearly 450

The School of Nursing hosted nearly 450 family members and friends of its sophomore class at its inaugural White Coat Ceremony on Nov. 6.

The ceremony marks the beginning of the professional phase of the students’ nursing career. Approximately 143 sophomore nursing students participated in the ceremony, during which they were presented with a copy of the Nightingale Pledge and donned their white coats that they will wear during their clinical experiences.

The nursing school’s White Coat Ceremony was made possible in part thanks to funding from The Arnold P. Gold Foundation and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). Duquesne was among just 100 nursing schools selected from across the nation to receive the funding.
