Italian Classic Film Festival Presents ‘The Marquis of Grillo’

The Italian Classic Film Festival will feature the comedy The Marquis of Grillo/Il Marchese Del Grillo at its next screening on Sunday, April 12, at 3 p.m. in Room 608 of the Union.

Directed by Mario Monicelli, this 1981 film presents a cheeky portrait of a Roman nobleman of the early 19th century who enjoys making jokes to his family and to humble citizens. In a stormy historical moment, he remains the support of a Roman aristocracy that does not take itself too seriously, challenging the powerful and always finding a loophole.

All screenings of the festival are free and open to the public. The Italian Classic Film Festival is sponsored by the Italian Consulate of Italy/Pittsburgh, in collaboration with the 41st Western Pennsylvania Symposium on World Literatures and the University’s Center for International Relations.
