Nursing School White Coat Ceremony Marks Professional Milestone

Nearly 150 future nurses took part in the School of Nursing’s 3rd annual White Coat Ceremony on Aug. 24.

During the ceremony, students received white coats to mark their new status as student professionals, took a professional oath and were presented with a copy of the Nightingale Pledge, named in honor of Florence Nightingale, who is considered to be the founder of modern nursing.

Pins from The Arnold P. Gold Foundation, which collaborated with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing to fund and establish White Coat Ceremonies at nursing schools in the United States, were also presented.
