Annual Pennsylvania Foreign Language Conference to Begin Friday

Students and language and linguistic enthusiasts from across the country will visit Duquesne University this week to explore literary genres, authors and languages at the 29th annual Pennsylvania Foreign Language Conference.

Hosted by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, the conference provides opportunities for scholars to share, promote and encourage research, learning and professional development in the fields of language and linguistics.

The conference begins with a welcome reception on Friday, Sept. 23. Sessions, including a reading of poetry by the participants, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, lectures will be presented in several different languages.

“This conference helps create a good, positive image for the University and presents Duquesne’s place as a strong academic presence with languages and linguistics,” said Dr. Gregorio C. Martin, professor emeritus in modern languages and literatures. “It allows our faculty the opportunity to interact with those from other schools and share research and ideas.”
