Join the Duquesne University Singers

The Duquesne University Singers is recruiting members from throughout the University and surrounding communities for the newest ensemble on campus. The choir welcomes auditions from students in any major, faculty, staff, alumni and neighbors who have prior choral experience or just a passion for singing.

“Currently, our choral programs are mostly populated by music majors. But in a University of this size there are so many musical people,” said Dr. Caron Daley, assistant professor and director of choral activities in the Mary Pappert School of Music. “It is my hope that the University Singers will become our largest choir going forward with 80 to 100 voices.”

Basic vocal auditions will be held Tuesday, Jan. 10, and Wednesday, Jan. 11. Interested singers are asked to sign up prior to the audition dates. There is a $75/semester fee to join.

Spring rehearsals will be held in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit on Tuesdays from 6 to 7:50 p.m. from Tuesday, Jan. 17, to Tuesday, April 25. There will be one to two public performances on and off campus per semester.

“It’s an outreach-oriented ensemble designed to bring the University community together, and also to serve the community,” said Daley. “We will be a musical voice for the entire campus and beyond.”
