Leon Ford to Discuss Turning Tragedy into Triumph

As part of Black History Month events at Duquesne, Leon Ford will visit campus tomorrow to deliver a message of hope and inspiration.

Ford, who was paralyzed after being shot by Pittsburgh Police during a 2012 traffic stop, said he uses the principals of love, compassion and understanding in his mission to educate and heal communities. He also will share his story and discuss adversity, forgiveness and motivation.

Sponsored by Urban Innovation21 and the University’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Ford’s My Story Your City presentation is free and will be held Thursday, Feb. 23, at 6 p.m. in the Power Center’s Dougherty Ballroom. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.
