2017 Graduates to be Honored at Commencement, Diploma Ceremonies

The University will honor approximately 1,560 graduates during this weekend’s annual Commencement and diploma ceremonies.

Spring Commencement will be held at 2 p.m., this Friday, May 12, following the noon Baccalaureate Mass in the A.J. Palumbo Center. During the ceremony, President Ken Gormley will present honorary degrees upon Pittsburgh natives Bill Strickland, president and chief executive officer of Manchester Bidwell Corporation, and award-winning author John Edgar Wideman.

The schedule for the Spring diploma ceremonies is as follows:

  • Palumbo-Donahue School of Business, noon, A.J. Palumbo Center. Speaker: Mary Jo Dressel, MBA’86, former chief operating officer for human resources at BNY Mellon
  • Bayer School of Natural and Environmental Sciences, noon, Union Ballroom. Speaker: Dr. William Largen, S’07, physician of infectious disease, Lowcountry Infectious Diseases and Infusion Center, Charleston, S.C.
