New Director of Administrative Applications Named

Robert Goffeney has been named director of administrative applications for Computing and Technology Services (CTS), effective June 5, 2017.

Goffeney will be responsible for the leadership and management of the database administration, applications development and web technology teams, which provide a wide range of solutions and services to the campus community.

“We are very pleased to have Bob join CTS and Duquesne,” said Chuck Bartel, assistant vice president and chief information officer. “Bob’s skills in vendor management, staff development and administrative applications, along with his corporate and higher ed experience, make him a great match for our current needs and future initiatives.”

Goffeney most recently served as director of information technology (IT) strategy and operations at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where he was responsible for enterprise IT systems and services. He also developed a five-year IT applications plan, implemented shared IT governance and institutionalized project management in the IT division, among other initiatives.

“I’m very excited to be here. Duquesne has a unique mission statement and has a great location in a dynamic city,” Goffeney said. “The faculty and staff work together like no one else I have ever worked with. It’s clear they care about their students.”

Goffeney’s previous work also includes serving as both director of enterprise application services and senior director of enterprise systems at Eastern Michigan University. In the private sector, he worked as director of business applications for Champion Enterprises and in various IT roles at TI Group Automotive Systems, Modis Professional Services and TRW Automotive Electronics.
