School of Nursing Hosts Fourth Annual White Coat Ceremony

The School of Nursing transitioned sophomore students to the professional phase of their nursing careers during its fourth annual White Coat Ceremony on Aug. 25.

Families and friends were in attendance as nearly 140 students received their white coats and recited a professional oath committing to providing humanistic, patient-centered care as both current students and future nurses.

Duquesne alumna Lydia Presper delivered the keynote speech. In addition to her role as an ER nurse at UMPC McKeesport, she works with FOCUS Pittsburgh—a community outreach ministry of the Orthodox Church in Pittsburgh’s underserved Hill District neighborhood, through the Spiritan Year of Service Pilot Program.
