Campus Hosts African Academics for Week of Workshops

The Department of Theology, the Center for African Studies and the campus Spiritans are co-hosting representatives from four African affiliate institutions this week for a series of workshops and to further strengthen ties between Duquesne and the institutions.

All four institutions are affiliated with the Department of Theology through masters’ theology programs. The following representatives are on campus this week:

  • The Rev. Bona Ikenna Ugwu, C.S.Sp., and the Rev. Ferdinand Ezekwonna, C.S.Sp.— Spiritan International School of Theology, Attakwu-Enugu, Nigeria
  • The Rev. Benjamin Bem Kwaghgba, O.P.—Dominican Institute, Ibadan, Nigeria
  • The Rev. Anthony Anomah, C.S.Sp.—Spiritan University, Ejisu, Ghana
  • The Rev. Patrick Mwania, C.S.Sp.—Tangaza College, Nairobi, Kenya.

The representatives are engaging in a series of workshops facilitated by the Center for Teaching Excellence, Gumberg Library and the Office of Research, among others. Additionally, the group will meet and interact with theology department faculty and other University officials.

To conclude the week, the representatives will be treated to a special reception on Friday, Sept. 15, in the Power Center Ballroom, hosted by the National Institute for Newman Studies.
