‘Day for Learning and Speaking Out’ to Focus on Resistance, Protest and Civil Disobedience

Faculty, staff and students are invited to join Duquesne community members at this year’s A Day for Learning and Speaking Out Against Racial Injustice: Resistance, Protest and Civil Disobedience.

The fourth annual Day for Learning and Speaking Out (DSLO) will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 21, and will include speakers, a film screening, and a series of skits on race and pedagogy. The event will conclude with a special student round table discussion.

“Bringing together faculty, students and community stakeholders, the fourth annual DSLO will highlight systemic racial injustice and anti-racist activism,” explained Dr. Kathy Glass, associate English professor and a co-organizer of the event. “In line with the University’s commitment to diversity, the DLSO will also feature conversations on race and pedagogy, all in a safe space for learning, discussion, reflection and engagement.”

Each of the events is free and open to the public. Visit the Day for Learning and Speaking Out website for more information and to RSVP to specific segments of the event.
