Honors College, Pharmacy Students Participate in August Wilson Block Party

Duquesne Honors College students recently worked with the Daisy Wilson Artist Community on the August Wilson Block Party that’s held every year near the late playwright’s home in the Hill District and in conjunction with his birthday.

In addition, Duquesne’s School of Pharmacy collaborated with Giant Eagle Pharmacy and Paramount Rx, Inc., to provide complimentary healthcare screenings at the April 28 event. Student pharmacists, faculty and pharmacy residents were on hand to offer blood pressure assessments, body composition analysis, glucose testing and cholesterol screenings.

President Ken Gormley, who attended the August Wilson Block Party, announced in February that the University will establish the initial August Wilson House Fellowships program, which will allow artists of color to develop their own creative work while engaging in research and educational activities in the community and on campus.
