School of Nursing Hosts Annual White Coat Ceremony

Sophomore nursing students were officially transitioned into the professional phase of their nursing careers during the fifth annual White Coat Ceremony on Sept. 7.

Approximately 185 students, surrounded by family and friends, received their white coats and recited a professional oath committing to providing humanistic, patient-centered care during their time at Duquesne and beyond.

James Sabia, a senior professional registered nurse in the cardiac intensive care unit at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, delivered the keynote address. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing at Duquesne.
