Honor Those Who Have Fought and Battle Breast Cancer at Tomorrow’s Awareness Walk

It’s not too late to show your support and raise awareness at the ninth annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk.

On-site registration opens at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 18, on Academic Walk near the Union, and the 2-mile walk starts at noon. The event is co-sponsored by the University and the Theta chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Registration is $20 for employees and $10 for students. Employees who sign up with someone who did not participate in last year’s walk are eligible for a discounted rate of $35 for two walkers. Proceeds will be donated to the University’s United Way Campaign and designated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Making Strides through the American Cancer Society.

Raffle tickets will be available for purchase, and vendors will be selling items to benefit the cause. Registered walkers who are survivors or currently fighting cancer will receive a special gift at the registration table when the walk concludes.
