Night of Lights to Kick Off Christmas Season on Campus

The campus community is invited to join the Student Government Association in hosting the 22nd annual Night of Lights celebration beginning at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5.

President Ken Gormley will officially illuminate campus at 5 p.m. on Academic Walk. This year’s theme, Duquesne and the Nutcracker, will feature raffle prizes from local businesses, crafts and activity tables sponsored by student organizations. Santa will be present in the Africa Room.

Below is a detailed schedule for Duquesne and the Nutcracker:

  • Christmas carols, 4-5 p.m., Union Perron
  • Carriage rides, 4-7 p.m., Academic Walk
  • Santa’s workshop, 4-7:30 p.m., Africa Room, Union
  • Photo booth, 4-7:30 p.m., 3rd Floor Concourse, Union
  • Historic Union video, 4-7:30 p.m., 3rd Floor Concourse, Union
  • Official lighting of campus, 5 p.m., Academic Walk
  • Christmas dinner, 5:15-7:30 p.m., Union Ballroom.

All donations and proceeds from the Night of Lights event will benefit Autism Speaks.
