Founders Week 2019 to Focus on the Importance of Friendship

The mission of Duquesne’s Spiritan founders will be celebrated during Founders Week 2019. Beginning Monday, Jan. 28, several campus events will be held to commemorate Duquesne’s Spiritan heritage.

Founders Week 2019

This year’s theme, Companions on the Journey, focuses on the importance of walking as a community rooted in love, patience and trust—exchanging both help and support with fellow community members, according to Luci-Jo DiMaggio, director of mission animation in the division of Mission and Identity.

“Walking with one another is a concept that is deeply rooted in the Spiritan tradition,” DiMaggio said. “The Spiritan Rule of Life tells us ‘whatever may be the work we are engaged in…we aim to bear witness to a kingdom of justice and peace, by living together in community, in genuine charity, in mutual forbearance, pardoning, sharing, ever hospitable and free from prejudice.’ We are called by our Catholic Spiritan heritage to walk not as individuals but as a community rooted in love, patience and trust.”
