The campus community will again have access to locally produced sweet treats thanks to a continued collaboration between Duquesne Dining and Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream.

Beginning Monday, March 18, Millie’s will operate an ice-cream pop-up shop in the Union’s second-floor atrium from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The shop—which will run through Friday, May 10—will sell ice cream (one or two scoops) in either sugar, gluten-free or waffle cones or a bowl with optional toppings, milkshakes and pints. In addition, Millie’s will introduce new flavors, brioche and macaron sandwiches.

“We are proud to be Millie’s first campus partner and thrilled to provide the Duquesne community with this unique experience again,” Nicholas Corbett, general manager of retail dining, said. “There is no better way to welcome spring than by enjoying Pittsburgh’s best ice cream!”

Available ice cream flavors will include:

  • Chad’s Vanilla Ice Cream
  • Hazelnut Brownie
  • Cookie Dough
  • Lemon
  • Vegan Dark Chocolate (dairy-free)
  • Vegan Bananas Foster (dairy-free)
  • 2 rotating bonus flavors.

Millie’s, a local full-service ice cream company that opened in 2015, is owned and operated by Pittsburgh natives Chad and Lauren Townsend. Committed to using all local dairy and fruits and working with producers, artisans and food craftspeople, Millie’s has built a substantial local following.

“Millie’s is so excited to be a part of the fantastic dining that is happening at Duquesne,” Chad Townsend, owner of Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream, said. “With the fun and tasty food concepts at the University, we think Millie’s will round out the experience.”
