Register Now for the Annual ‘Spring Clean-Up’

Every year, Duquesne faculty, staff and students support the tradition of helping others by participating in Spring Clean-Up, which also raises environmental awareness and strengthens the relationship between the University family and its neighbors.

2019 Spring Clean-Up

Hundreds of volunteers from across campus will travel to the greater Hill District neighborhood Saturday, April 13, to have fun while helping community partners clean up several area gardens.

“We are excited to be focusing our Spring Clean-Up efforts this year on area gardens,” Campus Minister Brenda Byrne said. “These gardens not only provide beauty to the urban Hill District landscape; they also provide fresh fruits and vegetables to the community.”

Sponsored by Spiritan Campus Ministry, Spring Clean-up also will feature a Health Fair, during which community residents can participate in health screenings, including glucose and carbon-monoxide testing.

University departments, student groups and organizations are asked to form teams and have the designated team leader complete this online form to register their team.

Spring Clean-Up volunteers are asked to check in at 9 a.m. April 13 on the Mellon Patio. Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and, if possible, Duquesne clothing. The clean-up starts at 9:30 a.m. and runs through noon. It will be followed by a free lunch featuring food from Z-Best Barbecue.
