Annual Run for Ryan Honors Local Fallen Soldier

The 10th annual Run for Ryan, a campus-wide 5K honoring the life of Marine Sgt. Ryan H. Lane of Castle Shannon, will be held this Saturday, April 27, at 9:15 a.m. at the Duquesne Union.

10th annual Run for RyanLane was killed in action in 2009 during his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. Former Duquesne students—Army 1st Lt. Joseph Vitti and Marine 1st Lt. Chris Cavanaugh—heard of Lane’s sacrifice and developed the race in Lane’s memory.

Register online or at the starting line. The $25 entry fee includes a T-shirt, bib and timing chip. Packets can be picked up beginning at 8 a.m. on race day or from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, April 26, on the second floor of the Duquesne Union.

The Run for Ryan is open to the public and facilitated by Duquesne students and ROTC cadets and midshipmen.

Proceeds benefit a Duquesne University scholarship fund for student veterans.
