Campus Building Façade Inspections Scheduled

Desman Design Management, in cooperation with the Department of Facilities Management, has begun conducting campuswide building façade inspections.

Inspections are a city code requirement to determine the structural soundness of exterior decorative features, overhang extensions, chimneys and towers. Desman Design Management staff will be looking closely at all these areas, sometimes using binoculars to examine rooftop edges and any areas with difficult access.

“Desman staff will mostly be working from the ground looking up at building façades, but they also will be on the roofs of each building inspecting the parapet wall and any element that protrudes out from the building,” Mark Minoski, director of design and construction, said. “They also may be on other building roofs to get a better vantage point for their inspection work.”
