U.S. Department of Education Announces New Title IX Regulations

The United States Department of Education released final Title IX Regulations that became effective on Aug. 14, 2020.

As required by these new regulations, Duquesne University has created an interim Title IX Policy, which prohibits Title IX Sexual Harassment and describes the procedures followed by the University when addressing reports and formal complaints of Title IX Sexual Harassment.

In accordance with Duquesne’s mission, and as required by the newly implemented Title IX regulations, the University does not discriminate on the basis of sex in any of its programs or activities, including admission and employment. Moreover, Duquesne University is committed to fostering an atmosphere free from Title IX Sexual Harassment and creating an inclusive campus environment for all members of the University community. Title IX Sexual Harassment is destructive to such a climate, and it is not tolerated.

Any person may make a non-confidential report of sex discrimination, including sexual harassment—whether or not the person reporting is the person alleged to be the victim of conduct that could constitute sex discrimination or sexual harassment—in person, by mail, by telephone, or by electronic mail, using the contact information listed for the Title IX Coordinator, or by any other means that results in the Title IX Coordinator receiving the person’s verbal or written report.  This report may be made at any time (including during non-business hours) by using the telephone number or electronic mail address, or by mail to the office address, listed for the Title IX Coordinator below.
