Registration Open for the Grefenstette Center’s Inaugural Symposium

Employees can register to attend Disinformation, Misinformation and Technology: New Ethical Challenges and Solutions presented by the Carl G. Grefenstette Center for Ethics Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 1 to 5 p.m. via Zoom. The event is free and open to the public.

#The symposium will feature presentations and moderated discussions that examine information and misinformation from political, public health and legal points of view. Keynote speaker Brian Green, director of technology ethics in the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University, will address ways to build and maintain communities of trust.

Participating Duquesne faculty include Dr. Pamela Walck, assistant professor of multiplatform journalism, and Jane Moriarty, the Carol Los Mansmann Chair in Faculty Scholarship. Duquesne President Ken Gormley also will lend his expertise to the discussion.

The event is presented in partnership with the Center for Informed Democracy and Social Cybersecurity at Carnegie Mellon University; the Institute for Cyber Law, Policy and Security at the University of Pittsburgh; the Initiative in Ethics and Transformative Technologies at Seattle University; and the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics.
