$1.5 Million Gift Creates Center for Student Success in School of Business
A recent $1.5 million gift from a benefactor wishing to remain anonymous has enabled the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business to establish the Center for Student Success (CSS). This new hub will require the renovation of the seventh floor of Rockwell Hall and, when completed, will help students to become the kinds of problem-solvers who think bigger—and whose ingenuity is driven by compassion and empathy, on their journeys to becoming ethical business professionals who make a difference.
“At Duquesne, we ensure that our business students gain the professional confidence, impressive experience and powerful networks they need to get a running start on a meaningful career,” said School of Business Dean Dr. Dean McFarlin. “The renovation we have planned for the Center for Student Success will facilitate our efforts to add even greater depth, discipline, professionalism and a greater sense of purpose to each student’s aspirations.”
The CSS will be at the heart of the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business. A welcoming place that focuses holistically on the needs of all business students at Duquesne, the CSS will offer:

- Student-focused and seamless advising, allowing undergraduate and graduate students to realize their goals

“Measures of a successful business education include the level of career readiness, job placement and long-term achievement of graduates—in other words, students’ return on investment (ROI),” said Dr. Karen Donovan, associate dean of graduate programs and executive education in the business school. “As students (and families) decide between higher education institutions, ROI is an increasingly important factor in their decision. Consequently, the CSS concept is game changing and will provide Duquesne business students with transformational and cutting edge academic and career preparation to compete and succeed as business leaders who make a difference.”
The CSS will be housed on the seventh floor of Rockwell Hall, which will undergo a complete renovation with design work by architects LGA Partners. Construction is expected to begin sometime in 2022.
