New Diversity and Inclusion Training Available to Employees

Registration is open for a new diversity and inclusion training program being offered through the Office of Human Resources via MyLead. The educational training focuses on scholarly and research-driven diversity and inclusion best practices in the employment and hiring process, and on how to develop and assess a diverse pool of qualified applicants.

The training is required for hiring managers who recruit for non-faculty positions at the director level or higher. Additionally, Duquesne’s leadership strongly supports this important and timely initiative for all employees.

Training topics include:

  • Duquesne’s mission, the University’s current diversity statement and existing resources for diversity and inclusion
  • A discussion about the dimensions of diversity, including the legal aspects and the business case for a diverse workforce
  • An overview of implicit and explicit bias, examples of each and mitigating measures
  • Best practices for recruiting and building a diverse applicant pool.

The program will be offered virtually, via Zoom, three times a year. A recorded version of the training will be made available to hiring managers who cannot attend the live training sessions.

This professional development can help Duquesne employees learn together about ways to strengthen the University’s reputation for valuing differences and attracting talented employees who know that their skills, backgrounds, perceptions and knowledge will be appreciated and utilized.
