2021-2022 CETR Funding Opportunities Available for Faculty

The Center for Community-Engaged Teaching and Research (CETR) is currently accepting proposals from faculty and students for various 2021-2022 funding opportunities.

The Gaultier Community-Engaged Teaching Fellowship

Sponsored by the CETR center, this fellowship offers faculty the opportunity to share successful community-engaged teaching strategies, assist emerging community-engaged teachers and publicize their promising practices in the form of an academic product.

Each year, a theme is established within the call for applications that reflects an aspect of community-engaged teaching that needs to be strengthened at the University. This year’s theme is inclusion.

Fellows receive a $4,000 award. Applications are due Monday, May 31. More specific details are available in this online overview.

The Center for CETR Racial Equity Grant

This grant aims to support a faculty member or student’s efforts in proactive reinforcement of policies, practices, programs, attitudes and/or actions that produce equitable power, access, opportunities, treatment, impacts and outcomes for Black, Indigenous and people of color in the Pittsburgh region.

Faculty recipients receive $3,000 in funding. Submissions are due Tuesday, Aug. 31. More details are available online.

Community-Engaged Research Grants Guidelines for Requesting Seed Funds

In order to encourage community-engaged research, the Office of the Provost provides seed funding to support expenses associated with developing projects that can be expanded to a larger agenda for which there is sustainable support.

To encourage community-engaged research and sustainable community-engaged research agendas, faculty can request funding up to $10,000 per year for a maximum of two years. The grant expectation is that after two years, external funding will be acquired to sustain and develop this project into an agenda that has significant local impact.

This grant is open to teams that include Duquesne faculty and members of established community-based organizations, schools, governmental or social sector entities at the local or regional level.

Applications for this grant are due Friday, July 30. Additional details are available online.

Partnership/Project Support Mini-Grants

Recognizing that implementing community-engaged teaching and research often requires additional resources and support, the CETR center mini-grants can assist faculty and students to purchase materials and food supplies, secure transportation and more.

These grants range from $50 to $1,000, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Visit this online application for more details.
