‘Purely Piano’ to Showcase Hungarian Piano Works

The Mary Pappert School of Music will host the second installment of its Budapest on the Bluff concert series on Sunday, Oct. 21, with Purely Piano, a concert featuring piano music with a Hungarian theme.

Purely Piano will consist of works from composers Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Béla Bartók and Franz Liszt, with the second half of the concert dedicated to Liszt’s works, including Valse oubliée no. 1, Liebesträume no. 3 and Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2.

Featured performers will include School of Music faculty members David Allen Wehr, Christine Jordanoff and Natasha Snitkovsky, in addition to renowned guest artist Barbara Nissman.

The concert will be preceded by a special presentation at 2:30 p.m. by Jordanoff, who will discuss Zoltán Kodály, a Hungarian composer, linguist, philosopher and creator of the Kodály method of music education.
