Celebrate Spiritans’ and Duquesne’s History, Traditions During Heritage Week

Join members of the campus community in celebrating Duquesne’s heritage as a Catholic Spiritan University with a variety of events during Heritage Week 2017.

“As a Catholic Spiritan University, our mission is at the heart of everything we do,” explained Luci-Jo Dimaggio, director of mission animation in the Division of Mission and Identity. “We value not only taking the time to learn about our heritage but also to celebrate it! We want the Heritage Week events to be somewhat informative, but we also want them to be engaging and fun.”

The annual Heritage Week celebration includes a number of events for faculty, staff and students, such as:

  • Water Walk, Sunday, Oct. 1: Noon, Academic Walk, with Pure Thirst
  • Feast Day of Claude Poullart des Places Mass, Monday, Oct. 2: noon, University Chapel
  • Feast Day Luncheon, Monday, Oct. 2: 12:45 p.m., Africa Room, Union, RSVP required
  • Wine into Water, Tuesday, Oct. 3: 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Africa Room, Union, to support Pure Thirst and the Spiritan Mission in Olkokola, Tanzania, Purchase tickets (must be 21 and over)
  • University Birthday Party, Wednesday, Oct. 4: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Academic Walk
  • Heritage Week Lunch and Presentation—Things That Aren’t There Anymore, Thursday, Oct. 5: Noon, Africa Room, RSVP required.
