Next ‘United Pittsburgh’ Session to Feature Neighborhood Allies President

Neighborhood Allies President Presley Gillespie will present How to Work Together as part of the University’s United Pittsburgh speaker series.

Gillespie, a nationally recognized leader in the field of community and economic development, will speak at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 1, in room 104 of College Hall.

Neighborhood Allies’ describes itself as “a forward-thinking, solutions-oriented community developer” with a comprehensive and multifaceted approach to neighborhood revitalization. Gillespie is the non-profit organization’s first president.

Before joining Neighborhood Allies, Gillespie was founding executive director of the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation in Youngstown, Ohio. He came to the non-profit sector following a successful 18-year banking career, primarily focused on community development lending and revitalization. In addition, Gillespie has served on numerous boards locally and nationally, and currently serves on the national board of directors of The Center for Community Progress, the Western Pennsylvania Regional Data Center Advisory Board and the City of Pittsburgh Advisory Committee on Community Based Organizations.

United Pittsburgh is a new initiative developed by the Center for Catholic Faith and Culture that combines academic courses with a free public speaker series. It focuses on collaboration with the community by providing new insights into Catholic social teaching and promoting civic awareness among the University’s students, faculty and staff. These free community forums are open to the public.
