Grants Received

Funds totaling $47,500 were recently received by the Bayer School of Natural and Environmental Sciences (BSNES), the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts, the School of Nursing, the School of Education and the Gussin Spiritan Division.

  • Drs. John Stolz and Brady Porter, BSNES, $40,000, from the Colcom Foundation passed through West Virginia University Foundation Water Research Institute and Center, to support the Allegheny River region QUEST project.
  • Dr. Andrew Simpson (Liberal Arts), Dr. Cathleen Appelt (Liberal Arts), Dr. Jessica Devido (Nursing) and Dr. Pamela Spigelmyer (Nursing), a $3,000 John G. Rangos, Sr. Prize, to support Health Inequalities, Professional Preparation, and the Pittsburgh Region: A Multidisciplinary, Community-Engaged Course to Prepare Generation Z for the Future.
  • Dr. Rick McCown (Education) and Dr. Norman Conti (Liberal Arts), a $3,000 John G. Rangos, Sr. Prize, for Community-Based Research & Development: A Cross-Sector, Interdisciplinary and Inter-Generational Program.
  • Dr. Aleina Smith and students Maura Rost, Fátima Demlak and Maria Ortiz, Gussin Spiritan Division, a $1,500 John G. Rangos, Sr. Prize, for From Pedagogy to Practices.
